Hive celebrates two years of innovation and growth
Today, we mark Hive’s second anniversary, and we’re looking back on an incredible journey of innovation, growth, and community building. Two years ago, Hive set out to revolutionize the cloud by leveraging distributed technologies to provide secure, sustainable, and affordable storage and compute solutions.
Today, we are taking a look back at our achievements and look forward to an even brighter future to come.
A year of remarkable progress
In the past year, Hive expanded its team from 36 to 48 across 14 countries. Our team’s diversity and talent have been crucial in driving our mission forward, bringing together experts from different parts of the world to build a sustainable and innovative cloud platform.
Product developments and launches
Hive’s commitment to innovation has significantly enhanced our product offerings. Over the past year, we have improved our offerings, introducing new features to hiveDisk, and making it even more user-friendly and efficient. We also announced the launch of hiveCompute, a groundbreaking way to bring the power of distributed computing to GenAI workloads. As part of this launch, we unveiled hiveCompute’s Joint Development Partner (JDP) initiative and welcomed Elevatus and Innit as our inaugural partners. This initiative aims to foster innovation in the cloud computing landscape by collaborating with forward-thinking businesses.
We are also very proud that Hive has filed two patents this year. The first patent focuses on secure data distribution in a decentralized cloud, enhancing data security and integrity for our users. The second patent addresses cost-efficient resource allocation, ensuring our platform remains affordable while maximizing performance. These patents underscore our dedication to advancing technology in ways that give control back to our community.
Effortless and active participation in the circular economy.
Our user base has grown by over 10x, from 5,600 to 67,000 activated users spanning 154 countries. Even more amazingly, the number of users with multiple devices connected to hiveNet has increased by 50%, enhancing our network's security, resilience, and efficiency.
In March, Hive successfully raised €12 million in a Series A round led by SC Ventures. This funding milestone is a testament to the confidence investors have in our vision and the potential of our platform. The funds will enable us to accelerate our growth, expand our product offerings, and continue our mission of providing sustainable distributed cloud computing to the masses.
Hive’s focus on sustainability, security, and affordability continues to win widespread appeal, and trust in the product continues to grow. In addition, our ongoing partnership with INRIA has been instrumental in driving our research and development efforts forward, and we have more exciting partnerships to come.
Looking ahead: future goals and plans
Hive remains at the forefront of technological advancements. We are developing new AI-driven cloud services and continuing our research in distributed computing. Our ongoing projects aim to enhance performance, security, and sustainability, ensuring Hive stays ahead in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
We are excited to share a glimpse of what’s to come. Our product roadmap includes several new features and improvements for hiveDisk and hiveCompute. For example, we are working on seamless cross-device syncing and an enhanced activity monitor that provides real-time insights into resource utilization. Another exciting feature is the integration of AI-driven analytics to optimize storage and compute resources automatically. We invite our community to participate in shaping these features by voting on new ideas. Additionally, we have ambitious plans to expand our user base and enter new markets, making Hive’s innovative solutions accessible to more people around the world.
